How to add a site and move a VoIP Device into it
This article goes over how you can add a site to the GDMS platform and move a VoIP device into it, essentially associating it with a customer
Overview
Within the Grandstream Device Management System (GDMS) you have the ability to create and manage devices within "Sites". The "Sites" act as a folder for VoIP devices, allowing you to easily identify which customer the phones belong to, or which branch of that customer those phones are installed at.
This is particularly handy if its not immediately obvious based on the extension names what phones are at what site. For example:
Contoso Company has four phones, Ext.100, 101, 102 and 103. They have those four phones installed across two sites, but the names do not provide information on which phone is installed at which site. Using the "Sites" function they created two sites, one for Branch A and another for Branch B. They can now see which phone is at which site and easily know which phones to troubleshoot with should a call routing or registration issue arise.
Steps
The steps below will guide you through adding a new site to the GDMS platform and then moving an existing VoIP Device from its current site into the new site you have just created.
Creating the Site
Step 1. Login to the GDMS platform: https://www.gdms.cloud/
Step 2. Click on "Site" in the menu along the left side of the page
Step 3. On the page that loads up click on the "Add Site" button in the top right side of the page
Step 4. On the next screen, you will be prompted to fill out some information about the site, fill out the fields according to the below. Once that is done click "Save" at the bottom of the screen
Name - This is the name of the site and/or branch of the customer (e.g. Contoso - Head Office)
Parent Site - If this is a new customer, or they have one site leave this as is. Otherwise, pick the parent site for the customer
Description - You can enter any information here, but for ease of management we suggest entering the physical site address
Your new site has now been added, feel free to repeat the above steps if you have multiple sites you want to create within the platform.
Moving a VoIP Device into the new site
NOTE: The steps below do not account for adding a new device, please reference the appropriate KB for adding a device and then come back to this guide if you haven't already added the devices into the system
Step 1. Click on "VoIP Device" in the menu along the left side of the page
Step 2. In the list of VoIP devices tick the boxes next to the ones you'd like to move to a different site and then click on the "Site Assignment" button above the table
Step 3. In the window that appears select the Site you would like to move the VoIP Device into and then click "Save" to move it
Step 4. The column "Site Name" should now be updated with the name of the Site you moved the phone to, you can also confirm it was moved by navigating to "Site" and selecting the Site name. The phone should appear on the right if it was moved correctly
