# nbn TC4 AVC-ID

#### **Informational Guide: Understanding the AVC-ID and Its Benefits**

***

**What is an AVC-ID?**

The **Access Virtual Circuit Identifier (AVC-ID)** is a unique, 15-character code assigned to each nbn® service. It begins with “AVC” followed by 12 digits (e.g., **AVC000123456789**) and serves as a critical identifier for your specific broadband connection.

Every nbn® connection—whether at home or in a business—has its own AVC-ID. This ensures each service is uniquely recognized within the nbn® network.

***

**Why is the AVC-ID Important?**

From **April 2025**, the AVC-ID will play a crucial role when changing nbn® providers or managing multiple connections. Here’s why it matters:

* **Seamless Transitions**\
  The AVC-ID allows your new provider to quickly locate and manage your existing service, minimizing downtime and ensuring a smooth transition.
* **Accurate Service Setup**\
  It ensures your service details are transferred correctly, reducing errors during setup.
* **Efficient Troubleshooting**\
  The AVC-ID helps providers and nbn® identify and resolve issues faster, improving response times and customer experience.
* **Managing Multiple Connections**\
  Particularly in properties with multiple nbn® connections (e.g., apartment buildings or office complexes), the AVC-ID helps differentiate between services and avoid issues like churning the wrong service.

***

**Where Can You Find Your AVC-ID?**

1. **Hosted Network Partner Portal**\
   The AVC-ID is already displayed in the **Services** section of the portal. Simply navigate to the relevant service, and you’ll find the AVC-ID listed under the **‘Primary Connection’** line item.
2. **Invoices** *(Effective Wednesday, 1st January 2025)*\
   Starting January 2025, the AVC-ID will also be included on your monthly invoices alongside the service summary.

***

**Benefits of the AVC-ID**

* **For Smooth Provider Changes:** When switching providers, sharing your AVC-ID ensures that your connection is accurately and quickly transferred to the new provider.
* **For Enhanced Troubleshooting:** Service interruptions or technical issues can be resolved faster when the AVC-ID is used to pinpoint your connection.
* **For Easy Management of Multiple Connections:**\
  If you manage several connections in a single property, the AVC-ID helps distinguish between them, streamlining service management and avoiding errors.

***
