# Creating a Backup Job

In the Veeam Self-Service backup portal you can configure as many backup jobs as you like, your only restriction is on the amount of storage you have. The system will prevent you going over your backup quota.

To configure a new job follow the steps below:

**Step 1.** Access the Veeam Self-Service backup portal by following this guide, [LINK](/support/services/cloud/infrastructure-as-a-service/backup-and-restorations/untitled.md)

**Step 2.** Once in the backup portal click on 'Jobs' at the top of the page

**Step 5.** Click 'Add' and then select what you would like to backup.

If you select the 'Entire vDC' then it will backup everything currently in the vDC and anything added in the future, if you only want to backup specific VMs you will need to expand all the options to find the VM you'd like to backup and select it. Then click 'OK' to add it to the backup job

**Step 6.** Add any additional VMs and then click 'Next' to continue with the backup job creation

**Step 7.** If you'd like to enable Application Aware backups tick the box and follow this guide to configure them, [LINK](/support/services/cloud/infrastructure-as-a-service/backup-and-restorations/enabling-application-aware-processing-in-veeam-self-service-portal.md). You can also enable Guest File system indexing which speeds up searches in Guest OS restores.

For both you will need to specify Guest OS credentials that have admin access to the local OS.

If you don't want to configure these just click 'Next' to continue

**Step 8.** Enable email notifications, while this is optional we highly encourage you to configure them to ensure any issues are dealt with quickly and aren't missed. Click 'Finish' to create the backup job.

The job will be created with a random start time between 8pm and 8am, if you need it to run at a more specific time please reach out to our support team at <support@hostednetwork.com.au>
