Backup Policies are used to assign a specific backup configuration to a Veeam Backup Agent. A policy can be assigned to multiple agents and automatically applied to agents via discovery rules if desired.
Click Configuration from the top right of the portal and select Backup Policies from the left hand side
Click New > Windows/Mac/Linux depending on the OS you wish to backup
Select whether you want the policy to be visible to all companies or just the ones to which it is assigned (ie. if your customers access VSPC using their own company level account, they can see any public policies that exist)
Follow the wizard and fill out the following: - Policy name - Operation mode - Server or Workstation - Backup mode - Entire computer or specific volumes/files
Select the destination to store the backup data. In most cases this will be Veeam Cloud Connect repository for backing up to Hosted Network BaaS storage, however local or shared storage accessible to the agent is also an option
Choose the desired retention period (note: longer retention consumes more storage)
Follow the remaining steps in the wizard as per your requirements, including the desired schedule for the job
From the Discovery > Backup Agents view, tick the agent/s you wish to assign a policy to and click Assign
Select the desired policy and click Assign
