Disaster Recovery as a Service requires Veeam Backup and Replication version 9 or higher

To successfully complete configuration of the DRaaS solution you will need the following:

  • A completed Disaster Recovery as a Service order for VMware/Hyper-V with Hosted Network

  • Access to the Veeam Backup & Replication server for your customer

  • Access to any advanced firewalls or UTM in use at the customer site in case opening of ports or adjustment of security policies is required for replication to succeed

Important Notes

Below are some considerations with regard to replications via Veeam Cloud Connect to ensure the solution works as expected:

  • Using DHCP on a VM - This can result in mismatched IPs on replicated VMs as by default there is no DHCP server in the Cloud Connect environment, we recommend configuring all replicate VMs with static IPs

  • Veeam Network Extension Appliance - For partial failover scenarios (ie. booting 1 more or individual replica VMs while the production site is still live) a small appliance is deployed automatically to your virtual environment when establishing connectivity with the Cloud Connect Gateway. This appliance requires 4 vCPUs and 1GB RAM. If this appliance fails to deploy, partial failover will not work.
