Accessing replica VMs
This article covers how to access replica VMs after booting them via partial failover or full site failover
Once a replica VM has been failed over, the options for accessing it vary depending on the type of failover used and the type of virtual machine.
VMware replicas
Accessing VMware based replicas is performed via the vCloud Director portal. This portal is a partner facing management portal for VM workloads and is the same platform used for our Infrastructure as a Service offering.
For details on how to access the vCloud portal, please see How to login to vCloud Director from the IaaS section.
Login credentials for the vCloud Director portal are supplied in the service completion advice supplied when a DRaaS service is provisioned.
Hyper-V replicas
As Microsoft do not have a web-based management platform for Hyper-V workloads, options for accessing these replicas are more limited.
Failed over replicas will be booted on Hosted Network's Hyper-V infrastructure and can only be accessed via remote access methods such as VPN and RDP once successfully started. Assistance from Hosted Network support will be required to troubleshoot any issues that require access to the local VM console.
As part of the setup of a Hyper-V DRaaS service, a virtual router will generally be provisioned with pre-configured remote access for accessing replicas during a failover. This configuration is completed on a bespoke basis and requires assistance from Hosted Network Support to provision. Please log a support ticket for assistance in provisioning and testing this in advance if required.
