External Networks

What external networks are, and how to get one added to a tenant.

An external network connects a tenant to something outside the platform, most often the internet or a private link back to the customer site.

The most common use for external networks is to connect an internet facing VM like a virtual router to the internet.

Unlike internal networks, external networks cannot be created in the portal. Hosted Network provisions them for you.

Where to find them

  • Click Networking then External Networks in the left hand menu

  • The list shows every external network available to your tenants, with its name, network ID and tag

  • There is no create button. An empty list simply means none have been provisioned for you yet
